What We Do
The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs protects the public from fraud, deceit and misrepresentation in the sale of goods and services.
Below is a listing of the various sections and units within the Division of Consumer Affairs.
* Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
The ADR Unit resolves disputes without having to go through the traditional court system.
* Bureau of Securities, New Jersey (BOS)
The BOS is New Jersey’s securities regulatory agency. It is part of the Division of Consumer Affairs.
* Consumer Information on Businesses and Professions We Regulate
The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs supervises the activities of 41 boards and committees, regulating more than 80 professions and occupations. Approximately 600,000 New Jerseyans are licensed by these boards.
* Consumer Protection, Office of (OCP)
Serves as the chief investigative section for consumer complaints. The primary responsibility of OCP is to enforce the Consumer Fraud Act and its regulations.
